Let's Talk...

One More Time

Lamps dimming under an

Inking sky; the moon throwing

Her translucent blanket

Across the window sill.

And catching your stiff silhouette

Unawares.

I cannot see your face

Masked in shadows

But feel the burgundy

Coals of your eyes

Piercing my rib-cage.

Before the embers die out

Lets talk it over

One more time.

Before the dew

Fills the grass

And makes the

Windows weep

Before words

Hit their mark

Causing

Irreparable lesions

Lets talk it over

One more time.

Before lips droop permanently

Into a warp

Of acquiescence

Before eyebrows uncrease in acceptance;

Before the shadow

On the forehead

Disappears like forgotten sentences

And before eyes change their mind

Lets talk it over

One more time.

Very poignant and beautifully poetic! You have an amazing way with words.

I seldom read poetry (as I always fail to appreciate it), but I loved this line so very much:

“Before lips droop permanently into a warp of acquiescence; Before eyebrows uncrease in acceptance”…

    Beautiful indeed…

  12. Sneha.S.K. says:

Spell binding, Indrani. Your poetry is like a warm ray of sunlight in a cold, moonless night.

  13. Shernaz says:

Geetashree has said it, Indrani! A mesmerisingly crafted poem. It takes on the form of a visual painting as one reads it. I loved it and have learned too from it. Thanks for the delightful poetic experience.

  14. Geetashree Chatterjee says:

Your poetic expressions are so beautiful and spell binding that I read it twice to soak in the delightful imageries, which I must say I seldom do. Though it’s a verse dealing with dismal mood but the word craft is as though chiseled out of a sculptor’s hand and creates extraordinary visual splendour.

An eagerness to negotiate one last time couched in beautiful imagery !
